Bangladesh fall behind Afghanistan in Test rankings;
Bangladesh have fallen behind Afghanistan in the ICC Men's Test Team rankings and into 10th place following the annual update carried out on Friday, which also eliminates results from 2016-17. ICC media release however states that the annual ranking table does not figure Afghanistan and Ireland as those two nations have not played enough Tests but ICC Test match rankings in their official website still displays Afghanistan in eighth spot because of more ranking points than Bangladesh.

In the latest update, that rates all matches played since May 2019 at 100 per cent and those of the previous two years at 50 per cent, Australia (116) have taken over from India as the top ranked side in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's Test Team Rankings with New Zealand (115) remaining in second place. India are now third with 114 points. India have yielded the top spot for the first time since October 2016. This is largely because India had won 12 Tests and lost just one Test in 2016-17, the records of which were removed in the latest update.

The Tigers lost to Afghanistan in a one-off Test at home in September by a big margin of 224 runs and that allowed the newest member in the Test arena to leapfrog Bangladesh into ninth place with 57 points during a time where cricket has come to a stop due to the coronavirus pandemic. The annual update states that Afghanistan and Ireland does not figure in the table as they have not played enough matches. Bangladesh have retained their seventh place in ODI rankings while they improved their T20I standing to eighth.

The T20I rankings saw lots of change as Australia (278) top the list for the first time since the T20I rankings were introduced in 2011. Pakistan, who had overtaken New Zealand to reach top position in January 2018 and then spent 27 months there, are now fourth with 260 points.
