Description

Medical workers are on the frontlines every day working to save lives from the coronavirus. They have had to change the way they practice medicine in an effort to prevent getting the virus and endangering their own lives.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Are you involved in a story making headlines?

Dr. Daniela Lamas, a pulmonary and critical-care doctor, says she’s had to make a lot of changes in the way she treats patients. Aside from needing to wear a full body of personal protective equipment and worry about having enough machines, it has also changed the way she interacts with patients and family members in the ICU.

“The necessity of wearing a mask, of wearing gloves, of wearing a gown, of wearing eye protection, that is quite, literally, a barrier,” Dr. Lamas says. “And so sadly, I think this has changed our bedside manner and not for the better.”

The Dr. Phil show provides the most comprehensive forum on mental health issues in the history of television. For over a decade, Dr. McGraw has used the show's platform to make psychology accessible and understandable to the general public by addressing important personal and social issues. Using his top-rated show as a teaching tool, he takes aim at the critical issues of our time, including the "silent epidemics" of bullying, drug abuse, domestic violence, depression, child abuse, suicide and various forms of severe mental illness.
