Young Children (Preschool)
How do you think it made Zacchaeus feel for Jesus to come to his house? How would you feel if Jesus came to our house? As a family, sing the Sunday School Billboard Top 10 song about Zacchaeus.

Older Children (Elementary)
Jesus knows the importance of a person’s name. You have a special name. Do you know what your name means? Zacchaeus’ name means “pure.” Zacchaeus was not well liked in his community because he did not treat people fairly. When Jesus said his name (v5) this may have been the first time in a long time he heard someone, besides his mother, say his name in a kind way. What kind words do you think people need to hear during these difficult days?

Back then, a grown, wealthy man hanging out in a tree would have been considered undignified. But Zacchaeus didn’t care. He was going to do whatever it took to see and get close to Jesus. Are we willing to think like Zach and do whatever it takes to see and get close to Christ? Especially now, people need to see Jesus in us.
