10 Amazing Worlds Lost on Earth

Hey Youtubers! Welcome back to another unbelievable video from Mind Read. We're so happy you could be with us today! In this video, we're going to take a look at the top 10 amazing worlds lost on earth. Whoa, what a super cool topic, do you know of any? We'd love to hear your thoughts down in the comments section below, and don't forget to add the real or supposed locality too, if it hasn't been located yet. We're super excited to get stuck into these amazing worlds and we know this is going to be mystical and very interesting. So, without any more waiting, let's see our top 10, and stay tuned for our best pick at spot number 2. Here we go!

Number 10: At our tenth spot we can tell you that the Mariana Trench in the Western Pacific takes this place in our countdown. The Mariana Trench is one of the deepest locations on Earth and has only been visited on 4 occasions. The Trench is 1580 miles long and 43 miles deep, and it contains a host of strange organisms that scientists know very little about.

Measuring the greatest depths in the Mariana Trench is an exceedingly difficult task, given the technical challenges of delivering instrumentation to such a remote location and then getting accurate readings. The first attempt was made in 1875 during the Challenger Expedition (1872 to 1876), when a sounding of 26850 feet was obtained near the southern end of the trench. In 1957, during the International Geophysical Year, the Soviet research ship (Vityaz) founded a new world record depth of 36056 feet in Challenger Deep. In addition, another deep hole which was first called HMRG Deep (which stood for the Hawaii Mapping Research Group) and later renamed Sirena Deep is situated south of Guam and east of Challenger Deep. First encountered in 1997; its full depth has been reported variously as 34911 and 35463 feet.

Number 9: At spot number 9 in the countdown, we have this footage of this amazing lost world. Sima Humboldt & Sima Martel, Venezuela. Sima Humboldt and Sima Martel are 2 gigantic sinkholes located at the top of an 11500 foot mountain in Venezuela. Originally discovered in 1961, a lot is still unknown about the deep and dark depths of the sinkholes, with one which is so massive it has its own ecosystem at the bottom of it. Wow! According to local legend, the sinkhole is a mysterious and an evil place.

The bigger sinkhole is located on the summit of the plateau of Sarisariñama tepui in Bolívar State. It is unusual for several reasons, including its enormous size and depth, and its location on the top of the only forested tepui, having a patch of forest at its base being due to the weathering process that formed this sinkhole in the said origination. The feature is named after scientist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt. Together with the neighbouring Sima Martel, it was first spotted in 1961 by a pilot who discovered it by mistake. Its volume is 640,000,000 cubic feet, with a maximum width of 1155 feet at its upper rim.

Number 8: At the eighth spot, we can tell you that this amazing place makes up the next part of our countdown. This is Melville Range located in Australia. In 2013, scientists discovered this remote rainforest in Australia. It is located on a giant boulder plateau on Cape York Peninsula, and is only accessible by helicopter. Wow! Many strange, never-before-seen species call this oasis their home, such as the leaf-tailed gecko.

National Geographic photographer (Tim Laman) led the Cape York Biodiversity Expedition and became exceedingly interested by Hoskins' descriptions of Cape Melville, and teamed up with Hoskin for this expedition which was funded by the National Geographic Expeditions’ Council. Here, the team set out to study the rainforest and its inhabitants, which have not largely been studied by science. The 9-mile-long range is almost impassable, surrounded by a fortress of chunks of granite that have eroded in place after being thrust up through the earth millions and millions of years ago. Hoskin called it a "crazy adventure." This one takes the sixth spot in our countdown today.
Number 7: Spot 7 goes to this footage of Palawan Highlands, located in the gorgeous and inspirational country, the Philippines. Here, botanists were exploring a remote area of Palawan Island when they discovered a carnivorous plant at the top of Mount Victoria and Mount Sagapaw, which makes up part of the essence of mystery and craziness of the place. The hungry flower is so large that it unbelievably feeds on rodents and even small monkeys to survive. Other mysterious forms of life were also discovered here, but have yet to be identified within their full spectrum for scientific placements.

As of 2016, the main island of Palawan was rated the "Most Beautiful Island in the World" as voted by the readers of rival travel publications Conde Nast Traveller and Travel Plus Leisure.
