As you probably have guessed, bombers are specifically designed to attack naval and ground targets by launching torpedoes or dropping bombs. Heavy bombs need big airplanes, and today we’ll show you some of the biggest!

The Kalinin K-7 was a heavy experimental aircraft tested and designed in the Soviet Union back in the early ’30s and had a rather unusual configuration. It has twin booms, and large underwings pods house fixed machine gun turrets and landing gear. Its airframe was welded from chrome-molybdenum steel and, originally, was supposed to have six engines in the leading edge. But this saw the projected loading weight drastically exceeded and the engine arrangement was overhauled.
