Top 10 MCU characters who could beat Snyder Superman
Hey guys. Raccoon here. Today we’re going to answer an age-old question. Who can beat up Superman? This time we’re going to take a look at characters from the MCU and compare them to Henry Cavill’s Superman from Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Justice League.
But Let’s not waste too much time with introductions. Let’s dive straight into it.
Number 10 Celestial Star-Lord.
This might be the biggest surprise of them all, since Star-Lord is one of the must human-ish heroes in the MCU, but I think he can give Superman a run for his money. In Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Star-Lord discovers that he’s actually half human, and half celestial. The latter being a species of cosmic gods from the early days of the universe. Star-Lord basically held complete power over his father’s planet, Ego, and could use his celestial cosmic force to manipulate all the matter around him. He also could fly around really fast and punch stuff, which woudl be pretty useful while battling Superman.
Number 9: Captain Marvel
Kevin Feige and crew have championed Captain Marvel as their strongest character. Even if it is all part of a feminist inspired marketing campaign to capture younger audience members, she’s still a really cool character. I’m sure you all remember that she gave Thanos a run for his money in their battle in Avengers: Endgame, and for that reason alone, I think she’d be able to take Superman out in a fight.
Number 8: Surtur
He’s the big, horned, fire demon from Thor: Ragnarok. You know… the guy with a giant firey sword and those two big horns. Since he can so easily explode a planet with his sword, I’m sure he’d be able to fight off Clark Kent. He can destroy planets with a single plunge of his sword. Some yelllow sun roided out Kryptonian shouldn’t be too big of a deal.
Number 7: The Ancient One.
It was a tough choice between Doctor Strange and The Ancient One for this list. We ended up settling on the Ancient One, because Doctor Strange is, as of yet, a novice Master of the Mystic Arts. I know novice and master might be a little oxymoronic, but still… Doctor Strange isn’t as versed in magical know-how as The Ancient One. In a fight with Superman, The Ancient One would throw up a few bending illusions, invoke the mirror dimension, and channel some Dark Dimension energy to beat him to a pulp.
Number 6: Dormammu
Dormammu occupies the same space as other galaxy level threats, like Galactus, Ego, and the Celestials.
We’ve seen what Dormammu is capable of in the MCU, and he’s basically a single dark-dimension propagating entity of evil. I really don’t think Superman would be able to defeat him, if it weren’t through the very cunning work of plot armor and deus ex.
Number 5: Thanos
Thanos beat up Thor, Hulk, and Captain Marvel. Alright, that last one was defeated with the power of an infinity stone, but still… Thanos has defeated all of the most powerful Avengers. Since those other guys are so strong, I think it’s fair to say that Thanos would surely give Superman a run for his money. Thanos is basically a smarter version of Doomsday from Batman vs Superman, and we all saw how easily that mindless monster was able to do away with Supes. I think it’d be much the same for Thanos.
Number 4: Hela
Hela is just unstoppable. Her brother, Thor, never even presented much of a challenge for her. She has an inifinite supply of giant, stabby daggers and she’s pretty much immune to every physical attack. I can’t imagine a single way that Superman could defeat her. She’d win almost every match up soundly.
Number 3: Ego.
Just like Dormammu, Ego is a galaxy level threat. We saw him battle against Star-Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The only character that really stood a chance was Chris Pratt’s Star Lord, when he was fully juiced up on his celestial powers. Since Ego has greater control of his celestial powers, I have no doubt that much like Star-Lord, Ego would be able to take down Superman.
