these beautiful scenery lies the spectacular Georgetown Loop Railroad.
Originally built way back in the year 1877, this train route was the only transport able to reach the
silver mines that populated the area. The Georgetown Loop Railroad acts as a link to the two towns
of Georgetown and Silver Plume both located in the Rocky Mountain Range.
Some terrifying experiences are known to occur when high heavy winds coming from different sides
hits the train making it a difficult task to maintain balance. This rail track has encountered a
shutdown in the year 1939, but was however reopened in 1984, and is now being used for tourism
purposes.

#9 – OUTENIQUA CHOO- TJOE TRAIN (SOUTH AFRICA)
On our #9 is the railway which the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe train in Southern Africa plies.
The railway which was completed way back in 1928 links the towns of George and Knysna in
Western Cape of South Africa and was the last remaining passenger steam train in Africa. The
passenger steam train ended operations in June 2009.
In 1992, it was pronounced as an officially preserved railway with the capacity of transporting
around 40,000 passengers every year as at that time. It’s capacity increased to about 115,000
passengers per year nearly a decade after 1992.

#8 – KURANDA SCENIC RAILWAY (AUSTRALIA)
If you have ever imagined a train ride in the rainforest with beautiful scenes of nature surrounding
you, then get in line to partake of the wonderful Kuranda Scenic Railway in Australia. As it is rightly
named, this particular railway bridge is one that offers a most stunning scenic view.
Located in the midst of Australia’s dense rainforest, particularly in the Barron Gorge National Park,
the Kuranda Scenic Railway offers both a natural view and an unnerving train route.

This fascinating railway track was built in the late 19 th century and it connects Cairns and Kuranda in
Queensland. It spans about 37km long which affords the passages the opportunity to take in the
breathtaking environment full of waterfalls and green forests.
In spite of all the beauty surroundings and breathtaking views, there is a danger of fear for those
who are scared of heights.

#7 – NOSE OF THE DEVIL (ECUADOR)
The name of this railway bridge is surely fitting as it passes the narrow path of a mountain by driving
up the side of the mountain known as the Nose of the Devil.
The nose of the devil mountain itself is located near a small village called Alausi and it’s almost
vertical walls would have totally prevented the movement of the train along that path. The
government of Ecuador therefore decided to build the rail track which climbs up the mountain in
order to overcome this problem of passage.
