The missile is powered by three solid-fuel rocket motors and has a range of 7,500 miles! But here’s the thing about the Trident: The rocket engines have been tested, but the missile itself has never been used on a target. That’s because it is armed with nuclear warheads that can come in three sizes from 90 kilotons to the 475-kiloton W88 miniaturized tapered thermonuclear warhead - the most sophisticated strategic thermonuclear weapon in the US arsenal.
