The Wild West was a hell of a time for gunslinging, gold mining and screaming BOOOAAH at your horse if Red Dead Redemption 2 is anything to go by. But there are still some mysteries left to solve from this illustrious period - did a cowboy really shoot and kill a pterodactyl? Is there really a mine full of gold just waiting to be discovered? Here's 10 Mysteries of the Wild West.

"I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road/I'm gonna ride til I can't know more". Did Lil Nas X actually succeed in this western endeavour? I suppose we will never know. There are many other mysteries to come out of the West, though - mysterious about pterodactyls, Butch Cassidy, lost mines of gold and a ship that's wound up in the desert.
