A few times, I have sensed that something else was inside a drawing. Not only the joy or the pain of the person who drew it but the presence of others looking back...
You know what I'm talking about.
We're fascinated by drawings and their meanings. The same way that philosophers and scientists have been for centuries. Yet, our passion for understanding drawings is outlived by our drive to express ourselves through them. The first human beings left paintings behind them, to tell stories that could live forever, millennia after they were gone.
I heard a long time ago that when you see a drawing, your soul gets connected to the person who made it. Since then, I am more careful about my feelings when I contemplate a beautiful painting or a simple kid drawing. Paintings like "The Scream" by Edvard Munch have a lasting effect on anybody's soul. What was this character so shocked about? What was happening that the couple behind has left unnoticed, so carelessly? In some way, everyone in that painting is vulnerable and exposed to an unknown, but a sad, murky end, for sure.

In a similar tone, the Goya's Black paintings are difficult to digest. One of the most disturbing is "Women Laughing." It's hard to find creepier smiles and laughter, even in the movies. Dark, suffering geniuses can express a heavy burden through their strokes on a canvas, or a simple piece of paper.

I have a friend who was a school teacher and quitted because he couldn't bear the impression caused by the drawings of the kids in his classroom. He struggled to understand and tried to help them. Yet, it was too big a battle for a man alone. In these cases, it's essential to look for help with mental health professionals. If you're a religious person, you could find the support of your congregation and your spiritual leaders, as well.

Number 10. Monster Pet
Pets are the best companions for lots of people. I just came from my brother's house tonight, and he has this cute dog, so playful and happy. It's really great, it can make you feel like the most crucial person in the world.
In this drawing, a kid shows us several monsters of different sizes and power. In some way, the characters portrayed to look like a starring one, accompanied by its pet.
On the other hand, this kid might have imagined - or saw - a monster with its pet. The monster itself looks like a ghost or an evil spirit; we're not sure what this kid is trying to describe. Yet, the strange pet and its owner are dark and creepy as they can be!
Number 9. I'm watching you

When I was a young kid, I used to draw my bad dreams to get rid of the monsters who didn't let me rest at night.
So, when I found this drawing, I was shocked. Yes, it's simple giant red-eye, pretty much like Sauron's one. But, when drawn by a little kid who just watches the most straightforward cartoons on earth, you might wonder where this came from. I can't imagine what his parents thought when they found this. Is the kid claiming that he's watching us? Or something else is warning us through our kid?
Inside this red-eye, something evil seems to be waiting for us, measuring our strengths and weaknesses.
Well, what could I say, this is downright creepy.
Number 8. Night Monster

Sleeping is an undervalued blessing. Millions of people suffer from chronic insomnia and nightmares. A few of them have this condition since a very young age.
Many of the children that suffer from insomnia report feeling threatened or to have been scared by a monster at night. In this drawing, a young kid depicts himself looking outside from his bedroom window. Next to the house, we can see a massive creature, almost the size of the house.
It seems to be some kind of humanoid monster, with claws, sharp teeth, and a tail, that' approaching the house.
Have you seen anything like that? I hope you don't... Since this creature is allegedly an unnamed legend, drew by hundreds of children around the world. Actually, a few adults have described similar creatures when receiving treatment for mental health problems. Coincidence? We want to believe that.
Number 7. A funny day with the family
Who doesn't have drawn about a family day? A regular, happy family day isn't as typical as we'd like to think.
If we see this drawing from left to right, it looks like a pretty regular drawing from a 5-year old kid.
The sun shines at the top, and all the characters seem to be having a good time.
