Probably no other animal has garnered the collective fear of many people more than snakes. And it’s quite understandable. Snakes have built quite a dangerous reputation over the centuries, and are proven by documented attacks like what you are about to see.
Here are 10 shocking snake attacks caught on tape.

Number 10. Burmese Python Wrangles a Snake Wrangler

Burmese pythons are one of the most dangerous invasive species that are currently taking over the US, particularly the Florida Everglades. These large snakes have killer instincts and a nigh insatiable appetite, which means no one is safe from these vicious constrictors.
Even experienced snake handlers like Steve Messick are no match for one of these snakes, as this video proves. Messick has just finished catching a particularly large Burmese python when it suddenly lunged at the snake wrangler, biting him squarely on his face.

Steve’s partner Virginia ran to grab tools to pry the snake off of Messick’s face, while Messick himself tried to slide his hand down the python’s throat, seeing if he can block the snake’s airway so that he might have a chance to pry it off.

The snake finally lets go of his face but is still firmly latched onto his hands. It took pouring cranberry juice into the snake’s mouth for it to finally let go. Apparently, giant snakes don’t like the taste of cranberry juice.

Burmese pythons are quickly becoming ideal pets for exotic animal lovers, but let this video be a warning to you; these snakes are wild and it won’t take much for one to turn on you.


Number 9. Never Disturb a Nesting Mother

If you love reptiles, you should check out the JayPrehistoricPets YouTube channel. Jay, the presenter, shows people how he interacts with these animals, mostly snakes that he breeds, on a daily basis. Needless to say, he’s been on the receiving end of an attack from these snakes many times, some more serious than others.

In this particular video, Jay needs to transfer reticulated python eggs to an incubator. The problem is, they are being zealously guarded by their mother. Ok, one doesn’t have to be a snake expert to know not to disturb a nesting momma snake, but this guy’s an expert, right? Surely he knows what he’s doing. Well, let’s see.

The snake clearly didn’t want to get disturbed. It lunged at Jay a total of three times, with the third one coming dangerously close to making contact, and he was just trying to get the snake from its enclosure to the table.

How many times did the snake try to bite the snake handler? Well, more than ten times because I stopped counting at 10. But I think that’s enough to let you know not to disturb a nesting mother. Fortunately, jay definitely knew what he was doing because none of the strikes hit their mark.

Number 8. The Grizzly Aftermath

What you are about to see is the very graphic aftermath of a snake attack. A group of schoolboys in Vietnam was walking to school when they encountered a nesting mother. When I say encountered, what I actually mean is that they didn’t notice that there was a snake nest nearby, because the snakes were hiding under some tarps laid on the ground.

One of the boys was bitten, and one of them quickly called for help, and that’s where the video begins. You can see the boy laying on the ground and foaming at the mouth, already in critical condition. Fortunately, the snake handler had some antivenin at his house so they quickly rushed the boy there. But the snake wrangler’s job didn’t end there.

They obviously had to find the culprit, and removing the tarp unearthed three large cobras and hundreds of tiny baby cobras. The snakes seemed to have taken shelter under the tarp and made it their home.

The boy was very fortunate the help came quickly, and he recovered from this horrendous attack.

There are quite a lot of weird religions out there, the church of the flying spaghetti monster immediately comes to mind, but weird as they are, most of them still practice their religion safely. Some, like the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus’ Name church in Middlesboro, Kentucky, have practices that aren’t only questionable, but also potentially deadly.

You see, this church is one of the only few churches left in the United States that use snake handling as part of their religious services.
