Luka Doncic is the one of the most promising basketball players out here, with many accomplishments at only 19 years old. But how much do you actually know about Luka?
Well, in today’s video we’re taking a look at the top 10 things you didn’t know about Luka.
Let’s get right into it..
Luka is known as The Wonder Boy, but did you know that Luka also has the following nicknames? Matador, Cool Hand, The Don, and Swaggy L.
The Matador was actually Luka’s nickname while he was at Real Madrid. The Dallas Mavericks even tried to get a trademark for The Matador but were unsuccessful in doing so.
Dallas thought that was a great name for merchandising opportunities for the team and Luka. Cool Hand Luka meanwhile has gained traction especially for t-shirts.
Luka wears #77 Jersey because he could not get the number he originally wanted, which was #7.
The Mavericks #7 is currently Dwight Powell, who has been using that number since 2016. Now Luka loves the #7 because since his teenage years, he admired Greek basketball player Vassilis Spanoulis, who wore the #7.
It seems highly likely that Luka will wear #7 should Dwight Powell get traded or leave via free agency. Watch out for that!
As great as Luka has been so far, I bet you didn’t know that Luka is only the 7th highest paid player with the Mavericks, with a salary this year of $7,683,360.
Well, it’s mostly because Luka is still on his rookie contract, which will pay him JUST over $10 million in 2021-2022.
Luka can of course opt out and test free agency that year. And we do anticipate that the Mavs will make him one of their highest paid players when his first free agency comes along.
Luka is so famous that one of his rookie cards is now valued at around US$60,000. What the heck, that’s as expensive as a 2020 Mercedes Benz SUV! This is the 2018-19 Optic LUKA DONCIC Green Dragon Rookie Prizm SSP that is currently posted on ebay and gets 5 views per hour!
Another Luka Doncic card is now valued at around US$35,000 the 2018-19 PANINI #124 LUKA DONCIC RC ROOKIE PATCH AUTO RPA GOLD. This is also posted over at ebay.
Our Wonderboy loves video games! He particularly likes playing FIFA and Overwarch. He spends two to three hours a day just playing video games. He has a desk with an ergonomic chair designed specifically for gaming. Just like any other teenager right?
During the current NBA suspension because of the coronavirus pandemic, Luka has hinted on Twitter that he is playing too many video games.

Luka is a triple double freak. In only two seasons, Luka has already accumulated 22 triple doubles (double digit points, rebounds, and assists in one game).
This puts him at #20 all-time and he has more triple doubles than all time greats like Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Chris Webber, Charles Barkley, and even reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
If Luka keeps this up in his first ten years, he will have 110 triple doubles, and will put him at #4 all time! Wow Luka! Let’s get it!
Luka was only 16 years old when he played his first game versus an NBA team. When the Boston Celtics visited Spain in 2015 for their preseason game.
The Real Madrid team of Luka Doncic played him 16 minutes off the bench, and he scored four points vs the team with the most NBA championships of all time.
It doesn’t seem like a lot, but again, our boy was only 16 years old!
Anamaria Goltes, Luka’s equally famous girlfriend and who is a lingerie model, has been friends with Luka since they were kids! I kid you not!
Here is an instagram post of Anamaria and Luka in 2011, when they were just 12 years old.

They started dating in 2016 and have been together since. Rumor has it that they might be tying the knot soon.
In December 2019, Luka Doncic officially agreed to a shoe deal with Jordan brand.

Luka was a sneaker free agent for a while, from September to December, when the two-year contract he inked with Nike during his final season at Real Madrid expired. Jordan Brand is a subsidiary of Nike and is of course the brand made famous by Michael “Air” Jordan, arguably the greatest NBA player of all time.
During his “shoe deal free agency” Doncic took the opportunity to wear several brands and styles on the court such as various Nikes and Jordans, a pair of Curry 7 “Sour Patch Kids” by Under Armour and even some Pumas during practice. Apparently at one point, he had a pair of New Balance OMN1S in front of his locker, the brand that Kawhi Leonard represents.
