More time at home = more time to take care of ourselves. Many of us are often in a busy daily routine which doesn’t necessarily give us much time to pamper ourselves with good skin care or to even just try out something new. Now that we are all at home with more time, we have 11 ideas of things you can do that will help bring your beauty and skin care routine to the next level. Now is a great time to truly start taking care of our skin, hair and nails. Check out our video!
1. GET YOURSELF READY EVERYDAY
This first tip is really more for us to feel good about ourselves and also to help us be more productive. With this (pretty much) global lockdown, many of us are forced to stay inside all day with no meetings or plans to see anyone. When we know that nobody is going to see us all day than why put the time and effort to get ourselves ready? The simple reason is because it will a) help make you feel good and put together and b) help you be more productive.
2. EXERCISE REGULARLY
Did you know that exercise is not only good for our general health but also essential for glowing and radiant skin? If you hate exercise than I know you won’t like this, but it needs to be said: we can try to soak ourselves in masks, treatments and scrubs and we might see little to no long-term sustainable change in our skin, hair or nails.
3. IMPLEMENT A SKIN CARE ROUTINE
I would say most of us already have some sort of skin care routine. If not than this is a really good time to start implementing one. However even if you already have a skin care routine this is a great time for you to start trying or introducing something new into it. Have you used the same moisturizer for years and years? Why not try a new one?
4. TRY OUT SOME NEW DIY BEAUTY PRODUCTS
There are plenty of beauty products that we can actually easily do at home ourselves with the most natural ingredients. These are often times cheaper, better for your skin and infinitely more fun than anything you will find at stores.
5. TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR HANDS AND NAILS
This is an important one because during this global pandemic we need to take care of our hygiene more than ever. That means washing our hands…A LOT!
6. MEDITATE & DO YOGA
You might be thinking: what does meditation have to do with skin care? The fact is that you could be doing everything “right” i.e. eating healthy, exercising, have a good skin care routine and use only natural cosmetics BUT if you are experiencing a lot of stress and anxiety, that is ultimately going to have a huge effect on your whole body and often times also on your skin, hair and/or nails. Take care of your mind AND body.
7. EAT HEALTHY
We can’t go through this list without mentioning healthy eating. Like I have mentioned, a lot of what we do for our skin starts from within i.e. making sure our bodies are healthy which will result into healthy & radiant skin, hair and nails. Now with all this extra time you have at home you could start to learn how to cook new healthy recipes which are nutrient dense and supply your body with all the essentials for it thrive!
8. DECLUTTER YOUR MAKE-UP
Since the lockdown your house/apartment may already be peachy clean and organized but did you remember to declutter your make-up and beauty products too? If not then put that on your to-do list and start decluttering any products which are old, which you simply don’t use or which you don’t like.
9. TRY A NEW MAKE-UP LOOK
This is a fun one and something to do when you’re a feeling just a little bored. Have you ever looked at a make-up tutorial online on YouTube but actually never tried one out? Now is the PERFECT time to do so and just try something a new.
10. TRY NAIL ART OR PAINT YOUR NAILS
The most common reason people tell us they don’t paint their nails is because they don’t have time which we get. Whilst painting nails with one coat takes almost no time or effort, doing the whole manicure with a base coat, two coats of nail polish and a top coat can take up to 30 min to paint and dry completely.
11. WASH YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES
Our last idea is probably one of the most important ones on our list today and make sure you put it on your to-do list too! Make-up brushes should be washed at least once a week if not even more often. They have so much bacteria and dirt on them that we transfer onto our face anytime we use them when they are not washed. The simply rinse the shampoo off and leave to dry. Easy & quick!
