39 Flights | 1 Month Flying with Captain Lisa
Description
As airline pilots, we're usually thrown into small metal tubes for weeks on end with people we've never met. That's one thing that makes this career unique and challenging. But this time, I got to fly an entire month in a row (39 flights!) with my friend Lisa. When you're an airline pilot, your life is a balance of 3 main forces: quality of life, quality of job, and quality of pay. In this video, you'll get the chance to glimpse inside one month's schedule to see the pros and cons of how each force balanced my flying schedule.
My career started by flying for Mokulele Airlines and so did Lisa's... Talk about a small world! After a few years working as a school teacher, Lisa decided she needed a new challenge and became a flight attendant for United Airlines. She was then convinced by a few pilots on one of her flights to give flight training a shot. After getting a Master's Degree in a completely unrelated career field, then becoming a flight attendant, Lisa made yet another career change at 30 years old and is now an airline captain! Lisa is the perfect example that there's no better time to follow your dreams.
THANK YOU, Lisa, and all of our amazing flight attendants for making this month one of my favorite memories as a pilot. I'll always remember that this month at work hardly felt like work at all.
