Description

Eating Thai food in Thailand is an unforgettable experience. The flavours, the atmosphere... did we mention the flavours? Thai cuisine is one of our favourite and Bangkok has delicious food pretty much everywhere. In this episode, we bring you 5 Thai food stalls and restaurants that you absolutely must try in Bangkok.

We start this food tour off with what is said to be the BEST pad thai in Bangkok, Thailand. This is a bold claim but if you love pad thai, then Phat Thai Nana should be on your list of must try food in Bangkok. They only make pad thai at this humble Thai restaurant but they do it so well!

Phat Thai Nana
Address: 152 Samsen Rd, Ban Phan Thom, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Hours:
Saturday & Sunday Closed
Monday - Friday 12–9pm

Second up we try a sidewalk street food place that is super famous for their tom yum soup. If you love those strong Thai flavours of salty, spicy, sweet and sour, then tom yum goong is a must try in Bangkok. Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu is best known for their prawn tom yum soup and they have a number of other dishes too. Many have stated that this shop sells the best tom yum goong in Bangkok and we can easily understand why.

Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu
Address: Soi Kraisi, Talat Yot, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Hours:
Monday, Thursday & Saturday: Closed
All other days, 9am - 8 pm

Boat noodles is one of the first dishes we tried in Bangkok back when we visited Thailand over 10 years ago so when we re-visited the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market to shoot our "Top Things to do in Bangkok, Thailand" video: https://youtu.be/vngNuJFH-Ik we had to get ourselves a bowl of boat noodles again.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Address: Damnoen Saduak, Damnoen Saduak District, Ratchaburi 70130, Thailand
Hours: Monday - Sunday 7am–5pm
NB: this place is about 1.5 hours out of central Bangkok

When we heard there was a Thai restaurant where the chef use to cook for the Thai Royal family, we knew we had to try the food there. Two of the most popular dishes to get from Krua Apsorn are their fluffy crab meat omelette and stir fried crab meat with yellow chilli. There are numerous branches of Krua Apsorn. The restaurant in Bangkok's Dusit district along Samsen Road is the original branch, however we ate at Krua Apsorn Dinso Rd which is another very well established branch and in close walking proximity from Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (roughly just 15 mins walk away).

Krua Apsorn
Address: 169 Dinso Rd, บวรนิเวศ, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200
Hours: Monday - Sunday 10.30am - 8pm

For our final stop, we met up with our good friends Shinji & Yoko at another restaurant that Mark Weins made famous, the legendary Thai restaurant Soei. Mark Weins has described Soei as one of his favourite food spots so you know it has to be good! It's our second time eating at Soei and it was just as good as we remembered. Many years ago we ate at Soei's original location which has since moved so be aware of the new address below. Food is cooked slowly and with a lot of love here so make sure you've got time to spare when visiting Soei.

Soei
Address: Phibun Watthana 6 Alley, Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400, Thailand
Hours:
Saturday Closed
Sunday - Friday 10am–9:30pm

We hope you like this Thai food episode as much as we did making it! Let us know if you go to Bangkok and try any of these food spots out.
