Description

I get a lot of comments asking about formations and the best ways to arrange specific troops so I decided it would be best to make multiple videos on the subject. This is actually something I have been analyzing for a long time because I want to be able to provide the best information and have it somewhat organized and easy to follow.

There is a lot of information that I want to share… So to shorten the length of future videos let’s just start with 5 tips that can be helpful for beginners and players who have played the game for a long time.

USE YOUR BEST HERO

This kind of goes without saying. - Use your best hero if you want to get far in the game and rank better in the arena.

Your highest level hero may technically be your best hero unless you have Poseidon because Poseidon overpowers many other heroes even at a lower level.

Test your heroes multiple times using the same formation and analyze what you find. Look for answers to questions like “which hero lasted longest during battle” and “ which hero helps you win faster” to help you understand which hero you should be using.

Once you have a good understanding of who your best hero is, use them in your formation.

UTILIZE MAGIC APPRENTICES

Place Magic Apprentices in the front or back rows to distract enemy troops. Avoid putting them in places where they cannot be useful. Magic Apprentices are valuable and using them wisely will pay off.

When you place magic apprentices in the front row they will distract the troops in the enemy’s front row. The enemy’s front row will chase your magic apprentices all the way to their own back row and your other troops can take shots at the distracted enemy troops while they’re on the move. - In addition, if you put magic apprentices on both sides of your front row, you can make the enemy’s army go in two separate directions.

When you place magic apprentices in the back row they will distract ghost assassins. Ghost assassins can be a pain and a good way to deal with them is to place magic apprentices in the back row. Ghost assassins will chase your magic apprentices all the way back to their own back row and your army can even attack them before they make it back. - It may be difficult to find an exact formation to distract every ghost assassin, but if your two back rows consist of magic apprentices, ghost assassins, or demons, you can pretty much make most enemy assassins chase you. But be warned, it can be hit or miss at times - so keep working with this to find what works best for you.

PUT TANKS IN THE BACK ROWS

Another great way to deal with ghost assassins and enemy units that go to your backline is to place high HP troops such as Ogre Warriors, Witchcraft Totems, and Beast Masters in or near the back row.

Tanks, or high HP troops, can receive a high amount of damage and make it harder for ghost assassins and other enemies to take out your mid-row troops. Troops like Witchcraft Totems can make enemies freeze for a brief moment and Ogre Warriors can knock them back. Having a few tanks in the back will certainly help your army last longer.

I’m not saying to ONLY put tanks in the back because tanks also work great in the front rows as well - I’ll get into that later.

PUT RANGED TROOPS IN THE MIDDLE ROWS

Ranged troops can produce high volumes of damage and their longevity can persuade the outcome of a battle. Place ranged troops in the middle rows to ensure their survival. Ranged troops usually have lower HP, so don’t waste their talents by making them fight against melee troops with higher HP.

Your middle rows don’t only need to contain ranged troops - but placing mages, catapults, and archers near the middle is certainly a good strategy.

PUT MELEE TROOPS IN THE FRONT ROWS

Put melee troops like bandits, infantry troops, iron guards, Ogre Warriors, and other “tanks” in the front rows. I previously recommended putting tanks in the back rows, well... they also work great in the front rows. I personally prefer to have more tanks in the back than in the front but that’s just me.

Putting your melee troops in the front rows will help you fight the enemy head-on and keep your ranged troops protected.

I usually fill the front row with magic apprentices and the second row with Viking Warriors or something else with high HP - and that has worked fine for me. There are many other formations you can use.
