50 Vehicles Pile Up on Icy Iowa Highway

At least one person was seriously injured after about 50 vehicles crashed on Interstate 80 in Iowa, Monday, December 9, during a fast-moving snowstorm.

The pileup happened just east of Des Moines, and parts of the road remained closed for hours, according to Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Alex Dinkla.

The snowstorm created treacherous driving conditions all over the area, forcing law enforcement agencies to respond to dozens of crashes. (AP)
