Description

In this video we take a look at Dennis Rodman, Michael Jordan, Muggsy Bogues, Mark Eaton, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal and see why we will never see their type in the NBA again.

Muggsy bogues, muggsy bogues played in the nba from 1988-2001 in an era
which was dominated by bigs. a physical era where your average point guard was at least 6 ft something.
And then there was muggsy, standing only at 5ft 3 this guy still managent to be a huge contributor to his teams.
Especially in his time with the charlotte hornets in the early 90s, muggsy had many seasons where he averaged
more than 10 points and 9 assits.
20 years later we still havent seen a guy of his size making it to the nba. even though todays nba is more point guard driven
and size is not as important as it used to be. of course we have seen other shorter players like spud webb, earl boykins or nate robinson.
but never before and after, a player that was only 5ft 3.

Now from the smallest player, to one of the tallest player. Another player type that we are not going to see anymore is guys like Mark Eaton.
If you never heard of this guy, let me tell you something about him. He started to play basketball pretty late. He was in his late teens
and never considered playing in the nba. but in the era mark played in nba teams would often draft tall players just to have a rim protector. no matter if they could play or not.
Mark played in the nba from 1983-1993 and was 7ft4. He was not a skilled basketball player in college, but the jazz gave him a chance
and mark became a very important piece of their team. at the end of his career he was one of the best shot blockers in nba history,
in 1985 he avg 5.6 blocks per game, which was a record and i am pretty sure this record still stands today.
but players like mark that are just drafted because of their size will not make it to the nba anymore.
which is also kind of a shame, because mark proved that if you bring the work ethic, you can become a solid player.

Michael Jordan
Now with Mj its very interesting, because we already saw one player who almost played just like michael jordan,
which was kobe bryant. But now with the new generation more idealizing guys like lebron james, the more years pass the
lesser we gonna see a player who plays the way michael jordan plays.
One thing that was always outstanding to me, was that michael not only was a shooting guard with a above average post game, but all those crazy artistic shots he was making on a regular basis are unique. even kobe who mimiced jordan alot was not able to pull that many artistic shots every single game. So i am pretty sure kobe will be the last jordan type player we will ever see.

Shaq
Shaquille O'neal. man where do we start. I recently saw a very intersting video of shaq saying this right here.
wich this video I have to clearify something. yes shaq would be able to play in todays game. he would adapt his style,
probably not gain as much weight as he did in his later years with the lakers, but the orlando magic shaq could definately play the way giannis does today. no question. but for this video here, I wanna see we will never see a player again that shaq was when he was playing with the los angelos lakers. that was where he become the most dominated force in the modern era.
the combination of seize, power, weight, and animal like force was unique in an era where bigs ruled the nba.
so of course we will never see such a player again. this means us oldschool fans should be grateful that we were
able to see shaq in his prime.

Kareem
From one lakers legend to the other.
Another player type that we will never see again is kareem abdul jabbar.
When you think of jabbar right away the sky hook comes to mind. And this is exactly what I wanna talk about.
Kareem was a unique player. Not only did he rule the paint and the block, but a player with the combination of size and balance is
super rare. There is a reason why nobody was able to master the sky hook like karem did. I know for a fact that many of the best bigs of all time tried the sky hook, but gave up half way cause they just could not do it. so we will never see a kareem abdul jabbar again.

dennis rodman.
now you might think well he had players simular to dennis rodman. what about ron artest and draymond green.
yes they were both great defenders. but nobody but dennis rodman was able to grap 18 + rebounds a game with his size.
being only 6ft 7 the only other shorter guy who was a great rebounder was charles barkley. but even he could not grap 18 rebounds
a game for a full season. the combination of great defender, only 6-7, could guard pos 1-5 plus grab 18 rebounds was unique.
and we were lucky to see rodman play.
