Afghanistan at the Crossroads

Afghanistan is a country with great geographical contrasts, high mountains and natural resources, but a little known history, though it has stood at a crossroads of Central Asian cultures for ca. 100,000 years. Rita offers a condensed view of this history based upon the regions in which she has conducted field research. She will share with you her experiences as an anthropological archaeologist in its cities and rural areas, participation in discoveries of Afghanistan’s ancient past, and observed its people and their traditions. Moving now into the 21st century, Rita offers a reminder that civilization has been integral to Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.
