Zane owns a red solid-hull inflatable boat, is an excellent swimmer and diver, rides motocross and reveals great craftsmanship during the series. He prefers wearing black und dark red clothes.

At the beginning of the series he is mean to the mermaids, but later but later he falls in love with Rikki and they get together. Zane changes school but he comes back at the beginning of the second season. He shows Rikki that he still loves her and the two get back together. In the third season Rikki and him even run Rikki's Café together.
