Confident Alonso Critical Of F1

Alonso started off by explaining F1’s paradoxical nature

“Formula 1 is a contradiction. It is the most demanding sport in the world, with millions and millions of investments, but it is the only one in which the athlete is not allowed to train”

He is returning to F1 despite this. Alonso elaborated on his reasons for that

"I am returning to F1 simply because I love driving. I'm returning to a team that I'm very excited about, that was like my family. I'm coming back happy and with charged batteries”

He then rated his driving abilities

“I consider myself to be quite complete – maybe I score nine in everything. Maybe there’s a faster driver in wet conditions or on Saturday or on the starting line, one that’s better than me”

“I think I’m close to the top in many circumstances and categories, and in the championship that’s a good thing to have. It’s like when you have any top athlete doing good in every single category, in the end you win”

McLaren’s Carlos Sainz feels that if the reason behind a poor result is “something you can't control, it's actually quite easy to leave it behind”

He added that he is “very satisfied with” his “driving” as he knows that he “can score a good result in the race, like” he “did in Spain or Monza”

Renault’s managing director Cyril Abiteboul has divulged that “up until a certain point these communications with the FIA are confidential matters” referring to the new rules about copying in F1

He also expects “that at some point they will become public material” and believes that “they are very important for any team to make sure they comply” after ”the controversy of this year”

Haas team principal Gunther Steiner thinks that his driver Kevin Magnussen “has shown that he’s one of the best starters, if not the best one on the grid. It’s been pretty amazing what he’s done this year with his starts”

He also feels that the possibility of rain “will make things even more interesting” during this week’s race at the Nurburgring

He further elaborated that the “best outcome will be if” they “have a good race, with lots of variables, and from” their “perspective, to come home with some points”

Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher feels that Red Bull’s “Max Verstappen was lucky. He has great talent, but it was also promoted”

He also feels that “money stands against talent. If someone can hardly afford tests, no matter how talented they are. They will lose to the one who has more money”

He further thinks that his nephew Mick Schumacher “certainly has what it takes to drive in F1 in the coming year”

He explained that Mick “has shown performance over several years and classes and proved to be one of the best. So” he “can't imagine he won't be driving Formula 1 next year”

Turkish authorities have confirmed that the Turkish GP will now be held without any spectators
