Australia has 'highest testing rates globally'

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Australia now has one of the highest testing rates in the world with more than 1000 people tested for every 100,000.

He said the amount of tests being conducted, paired with a boost in the supply of personal protective gear, helped to flatten the curve.

The prime minister also announced the nation faced at least six months of restrictions with a possibility to extend that period as the government worked to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
