Australian education system is 'going backwards'
Description
IPA Director of Policy Gideon Rozner says it's clear the Australian education system is “going backwards”.
Over the past 10 years five times the amount of students have been accepted into education courses despite having an ATAR below 50.
“We have to allow for performance pay for teachers”.
“We have to allow for genuine career progression not career progression based on how long you’ve been serving”.
“We have to allow principals to hire and fire the best and brightest teachers for schools but all of that is opposed by the teachers union,” Mr Rozner told Sky News Host Peta Credlin
We have to make teaching a profession people want to get into,” he said.
