- Chetak electric scooter top speed is limited to 60kmph
- Chetak electric scooter price starts at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has a range of 95km on a single charge
- Chetak electric scooter bookings have started at Rs 2000

Bajaj has just launched the Chetak electric scooter in India at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Urbane variant, while the Premium variant is priced at Rs 1.15 lakh. The Premium variant of the Chetak features a front disc brake, while the Urbane variant gets a drum brake. Apart from that, the two variants have some cosmetic differences in the seat stitching, floor mats, wheel colours, and the Urbane is available in two solid colours while the Premium features a choice of four metallic paints.

This Chetak is powered by an electric motor that makes a peak power output of 4.0kW and a sustained power output of 3.8kW. The motor also makes a peak torque output of 16Nm. Top speed of the Chetak is restricted to 60kmph, while it offers a maximum real-world range of 95km from its non-removable 3.0kWh Lithium-ion battery. The Chetak also gets two riding modes - Sport and Eco - both of which offer the same top speed, but different acceleration. An auto kick-down mode also ensures that this electric scooter switches from Eco to Sport mode automatically when you open the throttle hard for quick overtakes, and then gets back into Eco once you ease off the throttle.

Charging time for the Chetak’s battery is 5 hours for a full charge, while the scooter can charge from zero to 25 per cent in one hour from a standard 5-amp socket. The electric scooter also gets smartphone connectivity features that show the scooter’s location, battery condition, remaining range and any unauthorised movement or accident.

Bookings for the Chetak are now open from its website, experience centre and select KTM showrooms in Pune and Bangalore for Rs 2000. Deliveries of the Chetak are expected to commence in February 2020.
