Phase 2 Syllabus Break down:
Your client should be ready to move into Phase 2 as long as you are even on both sides and you have a smooth blend from skin to 5 zeros. Now the next step will be CLIPPER OVER COMB. For this technique I recommend the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r5Kt6s-QEc&t=131s For those who may need a bit more than the video here we go! Take your Barber Comb and tilt it out on the angle you need to make it blend smooth. The comb you choose to use is not super important but in general you want a larger clipper comb that will allow for mistakes if you slip off the comp. Keys to this technique: Never hit the comb hard with the clipper. I have seen many students slam there clipper into the comb which will lead to inconsistency. You need to pretend there is a force field around the comb and gently touch the comb with it. This skill takes time to master but the good news is that if you take only a minimal amount of hair off each time you can start to feel it work. Speed will come with practice, but for now move slow cut the hair and comb it back down to “reset” the hair.
Now for the finisher to this technique you will do the same thing with your shears and perform SHEAR OVER COMB to smooth out the blend and finish connecting it from the 1.5 smoothly to the top length. Moving only your thumb to operate the shear you will be able to keep the shear in-line along the comb. This should be a polishing step and again you should only be taking off a small amount of hair as you smooth it into the top. You will need to practice this to get it down but again take small amounts of hair off and you will be fine.
