Berrettini upset by qualifier Giron at Paris Masters; out of year-end ATP Finals

Matteo Berrettini's hopes of qualifying for the year-end ATP Finals were dashed as the Italian was upset by American Marcos Giron in three tough sets at the ATP Paris Masters late on Tuesday.

The American withstood 14 aces and saved seven of eight break points to end Matteo Berrettini's hopes of qualification with a 7-6(3), 6-7(0), 7-5 win.

Giron struck 25 winners to claim his first Top 10 victory in two hours and 50 minutes.

The 27-year-old Giron, a qualifier, has won back-to-back three set matches in Paris, following his 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win against Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Monday.
