BEST 10 JUDOKA of 2019 - 2019年柔道家ベスト10 (MALE/男子)
Description
Many didn't agree with my TOP 10 Judoka of 2019 video. That video was based on a point system, and to be honest I didn't agree with the rankings myself. So, I made this video which is ENTIRELY MY OWN OPINION. I hope you agree!!! 前のトップ10の動画では、ポイント制度でトップ10を決めましたが、反対の意見が多かったです。なので、今回のベスト10はポイント制度ではなく、ただ俺の意見です!賛成を願っています。
#10 - HASHIMOTO SOICHI
Lost twice this year to EBINUMA and MOGUSHKOV, but had a better year than both of them. For the most part he is completely dominant and would be Japan's first choice if it wasn't for ONO.
#9 - CHKHVIMIANI LUKHUMI
Chkhvimiani has lost more than anyone else on this list, but he has had a stellar year where he became world champion beating out NAGAYAMA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems quite common for judoka in the -60kg category to lose from time to time more than other weight classes. Probably the choice I'm the least confident about on this list. Nonetheless World Champion and a great judoka.
#8 - ABE HIFUMI
Lost to LOMBARDO and MARUYAMA. If he didn't have that loss to LOMBARDO and maybe competed more I would have put him higher up the list. He's one of the top judoka in the world and everyone expects him to win.
#7 - NAGASE TAKANORI
NAGASE had four first place finishes this year and one second place finish where he only lost to MUKI. He flew under the radar for my last video because he didn't compete at either the World's or the Masters.
#6 - SAGI MUKI
MUKI was #1 on my last video because he had competed in many different competitions where he often did very well, the Worlds for example, but he has lost more than the next five on the list so I have placed him here at #6.
#5 - NAOHISA TAKATO & NAGAYAMA RYUJU
Two people for the fifth spot. These two essentially have identical records, losing once to each other and once to other judoka on the circuit. I thought NAGAYAMA would slightly push TAKATO out of the way for this spot, but TAKATO's record is equally as impressive.
#4 - KRPALEK LUKAS
I have no idea why KRPALEK is competing at +100. He looks like he could make -100 and he was Olympic champion there. Maybe he is looking for more of a challenge? And he is meeting them head on, only losing to RINER and HARASAWA who are two giants in this category.
#3 - MARUYAMA JOSHIRO
MARUYAMA's 2019 year is unquestionable. Beating ABE while injuring his leg and becoming World Champion. Incredible. He lost to ABE, but I think he just wanted to cement his Olympic spot despite being injured. He will come back better than ever in 2020!
#2 - TEDDY RINER
RINER didn't compete that much this year, only twice, and he didn't compete at the World's or Masters. BUT, he hasn't lost a match in 10 years (correct me if I'm wrong) and still manages to find ways to win against crafty fighters like KRPALEK and the new up and coming Japanese KAKERU.
#1 - ONO SHOHEI
WE ALL KNOW IT, ONO IS THE KING OF JUDO.
