Most guitarists think of scales in diagrams or boxes, just moving patterns around by memorizing the location of the root note. This can result in predictable and boring licks and problems with switching between major and minor keys fluently! Working with the circle of fifths to analyze the changing accidentals of each key really helps with getting a better understanding of how all these major and minor keys are related.
