Assistant Special Health Officer Dr. Zafar Mirza said that cigarette companies would not be able to paste any ads into the store or anybody, no one would be able to advertise through personal e-mail or postal.
Zafar Mirza said that adolescent children will no longer be adventurous in advertising for tobacco products; every year, 66,000 people die from diseases caused by smoking.
The Assistant Special added that every possible strategy is being adopted to enforce the law
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued notices to cigarette retailers across the country, launching a crackdown on the illegal cigarette trade.
Factories, distributors and shopkeepers stop selling cigarettes illegally, the spokesman said. Image and written health warnings must be posted on cigarette packets, shopkeepers selling cigarettes for less than 63 rupees will be fined, vehicle involved in transporting fake cigarettes will also be confiscated.
It is to be noted that according to a Health Ministry report, Pakistan is among the top 15 smokers in the world.
