Clean mobility: What is Delhi's policy to promote electric vehicles?
Description
The Delhi Government has approved a policy to promote electric vehicles (e-vehicles) in the city. The policy aims to push up E-vehicle numbers to 25% of all new vehicle registration by 2024. The state government will give out a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per KWh battery capacity for two-wheelers. An incentive of Rs 5,000 will also be given for scrapping non-electric two-wheelers. A subsidy of Rs 10,000 per KWh will be given for e-cars, but only for the first 1,000 cars sold. The maximum subsidy for e-cars will be Rs 1,50,000.
A subsidy of Rs 6,000 will be available for the first 30,000 charging points at homes and offices. Commercial vehicles like electric autos, rickshaws and pickups will get a subsidy of up to Rs 30,000. Loans for such commercial vehicles will be provide at a subsidised rate of 5%.
The government aims to increase the number of e-vehicles in Delhi to 35,000 by 2020 and touch 5,00,000 by 2024 . 250 public charging stations will also be setup by 2020.
