Here at Copperchase we have customers all over the world. Travelling by air is all too often a regular occurrence for the guys and girls here at Copperchase. With almost 30 years in the business, here are our tips for air travel in 2020:-

Download videos, eBooks and music to your devices
Make sure you have videos, books and plenty of music loaded onto your Devices. You never know when the entertainment system on the plane will be faulty. The WiFi on planes can be expensive and slow. Remember that box set you’ve been wanting to watch, download it before leaving home and watch it during your flight. E-books, podcasts, movies and shows downloaded for offline viewing, the list is endless. Something else you may want to consider getting is a headphone splitter so you can listen with a partner.

Use a Valet parking service
If you’re parking at the airport anyway, think about using the valet parking service. Check out the price to book in advance, you may be surprised how little extra it can cost. You may be able to drop your car right by the entrance to the terminal or there will be a waiting room and the shuttles are far more frequent. Far better than standing in the cold waiting for the bus to come around again. Think about this especially if your flying to somewhere warm, it means you can leave coats etc in your car. All these benefits apply on your return too.

Check-in online
Always check-in online first. This can save loads of time having to stand inline at the check-in desk. You also get a better choice when reserving your seat instead of waiting for what is left just before departure. Nearly all of the airlines have a luggage drop off section for those already checked-in, so just drop your bags and go.

Use carry on bags only
Especially if you are off somewhere warm. You might be able to get all the light thin summer clothes you need in a carry on bag. Hotels will usually have flannels, soap, shampoo etc and anything else you need you can usually buy anyway. You can feel smug as you walk through to the exit as everyone else is waiting at the baggage claim for there luggage, assuming it doesn’t get lost en-route that is!

Digitise your documents
Should the worst happen and any of your documents get lost or stolen, you will at least have a copy. Send them to yourself by email or to a friend, if your phone is lost too, you can get online to get copies.

Bring a pen
Any immigration forms or visa’s you need to fill in during a flight will be completed that much quicker when you do not have to wait for the Flight Attendants only pen to get passed around the entire aircraft.

Bring some snacks
Food on planes is never cheap. It is never as big as it looks in the photo on the menu either! This will either save you having to pay for food on the plane or help fill you after the minuscule in-flight meal has long since been finished. It’s also a good way to keep children quiet!

Fully charge your electronic devices before you fly
Make sure to have everything charged before setting off for the airport. Make sure your phone, tablet, laptop etc are all fully charged because you just don’t know when there could be delays. Consider a multi device charger with a worldwide adaptor if you are a frequent traveller.

Invest in a battery pack for charging your devices. Do your homework first though as some of the smaller battery packs will only give a typical smart phone a 50% charge. Going somewhere sunny? Also look at solar powered chargers too.

Think about using the airport lounges
It seems to be getting harder to find a seat in an airport these days without having to sit in a café or bar. Why not relax in one of the lounges and enjoy comfortable seats, food and drinks, sometimes even alcoholic drinks too? Check which credit card you have. Why? Because sometimes these cards give you access to these lounges free of charge. Are you a frequent traveller? Get the best card for lounge access. Don’t have a credit card? Ask how much it is to use the lounge, or better still book in advance before you travel. Remember, you will need to spend on food and drink anyway, so take what you will spend off the cost of the lounge and see if it works out as good value for money.

Download some useful travel apps before you leave
First and foremost, if you don’t “speaka da lingo” you need Google Translate. A good tip is to download the language files for the countries you are visiting first, just in case you do not have access to WIFI when you need it. My favourite part of google translate is that you can point your camera at a sign or written text and the words change before your very eyes. If there is an app for the airline you are using, make sure you download that. There are apps for finding hotels, sightseeing, maps, currency conversion, the list is endless.
