Qantas says some 2,000 staff will be 'surplus' to requirements as the coronavirus hits the tourism industry. Over 30 planes will be grounded, and the group's CEO Alan Joyce says hopefully redundancies won't be required, but staff have been encouraged to take leave – both paid and unpaid.
