Coronavirus outbreak: Canadian government concerned as cruise ship season approaches
Description
Speaking to reporters in Ottawa Wednesday, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne said the government of Canada is working with the U.S. and other stakeholders to mitigate the risk of further infection from COVID-19 as cruise ship season approaches.
Canada’s chief public health officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, has recommended Canadians avoid travelling on all cruise ships - which have seen several outbreaks - to protect against the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Champagne also said Canadian embassies and missions around the world are on a "heightened" state of alert in response to the global COVID-19 outbreak.
