COVID-19 BUDGET: Court blocks parliament’s 10 billion

Court has stayed the release of a total of 10 billion shillings or 20 million shillings on each of the personal accounts of individual members of Parliament until 29th April when an application challenging the approval of the money is disposed off.

The application filed by Ntungamo municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga and his Erute South Counterpart Jonathan Odur, seeks to quash the payment of this money on grounds that it was improper and irrational for MPs to appropriate the money without following the parliamentary rules of procedure.
