CYCLONE UEZI Lights up the GOLD COAST, Mason Ho and Filipe Toledo SHRED Brazil QS | SURF BREAKS
Description
UESI LIGHTS UP OZ
Cyclone Uesi has lit up Australia's eastern seaboard and it's no surprise that 2012 World Champ Joel Parkinson scored the wave of the day at Snapper.
Further north the Noosa Points also turned on where local standout Harrison Roach scored some bombs, and some burnings, at Boiling Pot.
But some of the thickest waves of the swell were just too much to handle.
BRASIL QS HEATS UP
With the surf pumping at Fernando today, Filipe Toledo continues to roll at the Oi Hang Loose Pro Contest, posting a 9-point ride today.
Recent Volcom Pipe Pro winner Wiggolly Dantas also won his heat.
Hawaii's Mason Ho also got in on the action, pushing scores into the excellent range.
We're 16 heats away from a winner … is Filipe going to take this thing out?
LAURA ENEVER'S UNDONE
Laura Enever has a new film project called "Undone" and we have the sneak peek at the trailer.
Laura shares her story of how she rose from Narrabeen grom, to World Tour competitor, to riding some of the most dangerous waves in the world.
You can watch it exclusively on WorldSurfLeague.com
ANDY IRONS DAY
In Hawaii, today, February 13th is Andy Irons Day.
This is a day that's officially recognized on the Islands to celebrate the life and accomplishments of the three-time World Champ from Hanalei, Kauai.
We miss you, Andy. Thanks for giving surfing your all.
TOLEDO IN BRAZIL QS 5,000
Filipe Toledo continues to dominate the Oi Hang Loose Pro Contest.
Brazil's first Qualifying Series 5,000 of the year in Fernando De Noronha has seen some fun surf moving through and Toledo, the top seed, is taking advantage.
Next call tomorrow 7:00am Local Time -- watch it live on WorldSurfLeague.com.
STRIKE MISSION: ATLANTIC SCORE
The Atlantic Ocean has been pumping and we've been cooking something up with Billy Kemper, Koa Smith and Luke Davis.
These three recently made a strike mission and absolutely scored kegging barrels.
Here's a sneak peak of what's to come from this collab between these guys and WSL Studios … yeah guys!
HBD ADRIANO DE SOUZA
And finally a very happy birthday to our 2015 World Champ, Adriano De Souza, who turns 33 today.
ALEX BOTELHO UPDATE
After Alex Botelho's incident at Nazare yesterday, we have an update on his condition.
The Portugese surfer is currently in stable condition and will remain in the hospital under close observation for the next 48 to 72 hours.
We're all wishing you the best Alex and hoping you make a quick and full recovery.
NAZARE FREESURF ACTION
We all know the action at Nazare was on fire yesterday.
And the waves just kept on pumping today, with an all-star free surf session going down.
Standouts included Ian Walsh, Nic Von Rupp and Justine Dupont.
OI HANG LOOSE PRO CONTEST
The Oi Hang Loose Pro Contest -- the first Qualifying Series event of the year in Brazil -- is rolling at Fernando De Noronha.
Filipe Toledo came out swinging in his 2020 competitive debut, leading the field with the highest score of the event so far…
BILLY, LUKE AND KOA STRIKE
And finally, on this same swell, at a location to be disclosed …
Here's a little preview of something we're cooking up with Billy Kemper, Luke Davis, and Koa Smith.
More to come … but Luke's wearing a helmet, so brace yourself.
LENNY, DUPONT SHINE AT NAZARE
It was a monumental day in Portugal as the Nazare Tow Surfing Challenge Presented by Jogos Santa Casa went off in 40- to 50-foot surf.
19 of the most elite big wave surfers were paired up in tow teams to battle it out in a six-hour, no-elimination expression session.
In a new format, where winners were judged by their fellow competitors at an athlete reception afterwards, the Rides of the Day went to Kai Lenny and Justine Dupont.
The Best Team award went to the "Young Bulls" -- comprised of Lenny and Lucas "Chumbo" Chianca.
And finally, the well-earned Commitment Award went to the badass, hard-working Water Safety Team.
