Andrew Cartmel himself confirms that the retcon in "The Timeless Children" was NOT his Masterplan, that he doesn't like the idea of the Doctor's origin being explained in such detail, and that when he devised HIS Masterplan, he talked to people who knew the LORE more than he did so it WORKED WITHIN EXISTING CANON! Also, he hates Sonics.
