Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial | Day 2
Description
Former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial continued with presentations from House impeachment managers making the case for convicting Mr. Trump.
They will have up to 16 hours over two days to make their case. Then, Mr. Trump's lawyers will have the same amount of time to make their arguments.
On Tuesday, the managers and Mr. Trump’s lawyers debated the constitutionality of trying an official who has left office. The Senate voted to move forward with Mr. Trump's trial by a vote of 56 to 44, rejecting arguments by his attorneys who asserted that holding an impeachment trial of a former president is unconstitutional.
