Dr Hinemoa Elder is the first indigenous alumna of the Homeward Bound project, a global women’s leadership programme taking 1000 women in science to Antarctica over 10 years. In this Brain Research New Zealand webinar, she shares her experiences in Antarctica and discuss her thoughts on female voices and leadership in science.
Dr Elder (Ngāti Kuri, Te Aupouri, Te Rarawa and Ngāpuhi) is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland, a Consultant Psychiatrist at Starship Hospital and Māori Strategy Leader at BRNZ. She has many years of experience in the areas of indigenous issues pertaining to mental health and rehabilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, youth forensic psychiatry, collaborative community research and implementation of Māori concepts of neurodegenerative conditions.
