The Billboard Global 200 is a weekly record chart tracking the most popular songs worldwide, published weekly by Billboard magazine. The chart launched on September 14, 2020 and is based on weekly global streams and download sales from over 200 territories. It utilizes a weighted formula incorporating official streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of leading streaming platforms, as well as digital sales from major music retailers.
The first chart was compiled with data from the tracking dates of September 4 to September 10. The first number one on the chart was "WAP" by Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion.
The chart aims to "reflect a world view" and is part of Billboard's efforts to "continue expansion of territories and digital service providers contributing to the global charts". The chart also serves as a means of providing "overdue exposure and recognition" for international acts.
The chart became available on Billboard.com on September 15, 2020. It will be published every Tuesday. The Top 100 songs will be featured on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title ranking will be available on Billboard Pro.
An accopmanying chart named Billboard Global Excl. U.S. will be published on the same dates as the Global 200.The first number one on the former chart was "Hawái" by Maluma.
