It’s no wonder Woody Allen used Polidor as one of the locations for his time travel fantasy, Midnight in Paris. Stepping through the door is stepping back in time. On his first night walk in Midnight in Paris, protagonist, Gil (played by Owen Wilson) meets his idol Hemingway in this historic restaurant on 41 rue Monsieur-le-Prince. It’s wooden interior largely unaltered in 100 years, Le Polidor remains a cherished Parisian time capsule, one of the most popular in the Left Bank. Here you can taste authentic Burgundy snails, blanquette de veau, boeuf bourguignon and grills. The meats that are served are French (from Normandy, the Limousin and Aquitaine). Everything is home-made, even the desserts! This is one of the true gems of Paris. I love this place. Traditional french cuisine, simple and not pretentious. Great food and wine. On my recent visit, I had the three course meal of Terrnine de Viande, Hashis Parmentier, and ice cream for about $24 (22 euros) plus a glass of red wine. Enjoy!!!
