Education unions give members a directive to stay home
Description
School management is expected to return to work today but unions have given their members a directive not to. The unions say the Education department doesn't have any policies, regulations or protocols ready for reopening. The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU), the South African Teachers Union (SAOU), and the National Professional Teacher's Organisation of South Africa (NAPTOSA) were scheduled to meet with the Education Department on Saturday, but the meeting was cancelled.
Joining us now are Mugwena Maluleke, the General Secretary of SADTU, Chris Klopper, the Chief Executive Officer of SAOU and Basil Manuel the Executive Director of NAPTOSA.
