Educators must be more than allies | Kelly Holstine
Description
In order to create a safe and productive learning environment in schools, we need educators to be advocates, not just allies.
--
Kelly Holstine spent her formative school years being bullied and harassed for being different. While she wishes this type of behavior was a thing of the past, she witnesses students being bullied every day. How can educators make schools a safe and accepting environment for their students? It's not enough for educators to be allies, “we need them to be advocates too." In this Talk, Kelly challenges us to break out of our comfort zones in order to support students and fellow educators who don't feel accepted, valued or seen.
