Today we are going to learn some facts about space! Woohoo Space Facts!

Space is full of wonder and mystery. While there are a bunch of stuff that we don’t know there is a good number of things we do! So let’s look at the top 10 facts about space.

Number 10: There are an estimated 100-400 billion stars in our galaxy, the Milky Way. It is impossible to know the exact amount as there is no way we can count them all so we have to estimate!

Number 9: ONE DAY ON VENUS IS LONGER THAN ONE YEAR.
Venus is unusual because it spins the opposite direction of Earth and most other planets. And its rotation is very slow. It takes about 243 Earth days to spin around just once.

Number 8: THE SUN’S MASS TAKES UP 99.86% OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM.
Made of three quarters hydrogen and helium for most of its remaining mass, the Sun accounts for 99.86% of the mass in our solar system with a mass of around 330,000 times that of Earth.

Number 7: Space is completely silent. In space there is no atmosphere which means there's no way for sound to travel to be heard. So how do astronauts communicate? Well they use radios since adio waves are different and can still be sent and heard.

Number 6: You cannot stand on Saturn. It is not like Earth. Saturn is made mostly of gases and has a lot of helium. Which is the same kind of gas that you put in balloons.

Number 5: THERE IS A VOLCANO ON MARS THREE TIMES THE SIZE OF EVEREST.
Olympus Mons is a volcano 374 miles in diameter which is approximately the same size as the state of Arizona. This giant volcano on Mars is also believed to be still active. It is the tallest peak of any planet.

Number 4: THERE IS FLOATING WATER IN SPACE.
Astronomers have found a massive water vapor cloud which holds 140 trillion times the mass of water in the Earth’s oceans somewhere around 10 billion light years away – making it the largest discovery of water ever found.

Number 3: Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system. The planet's surface temperature is about 900 degrees Fahrenheit. You may have noticed that Venus isn’t even the closest planet to the Sun, Mercury is! So why isn’t Mercury the hottest? well because it has no atmosphere to hold in all that heat!

Number 2: Nasa Space Suits are VERY expensive. According to reports it is said that a Full Space suit costs around 12 million dollars to make, a majority of that cost being the backpack and control module.

And Number 1: The International Space Station is the largest ever crewed object in space. Yes! We have a space station with actual people living and working there right now, how awesome is that!?

So that was some very interesting space facts! That took some thinking!
