Today is Wednesday 11th December 2019 and we are giving notice this morning of important information due out today which we should all be aware of and take notice of.

At 8.30 am EST we have the Consumer price Index for November with expectations of around 0.2%. We have Core CPI for November being announced at the same time also expected to stand at 0.2%.

At 2 pm the FOMC of the FED will announce its interest rate decision and FED Chair Jerome Powell will make a statement and then answer journalists’ questions.

Traders, market makers, financial journalists and industrialists, not to mention politicians, will try and eke out what lies ahead for the US economy in 2020 and how the FED is likely to react to it.

Now we have posted numerous videos and comments, including our weekly update last Saturday, stating why the FED is almost certainly not going to lower rates today, and our view is supported by Richard Barrington, Senior Financial Analyst at Moneyrates.com who stated just 2 days ago:

“It is widely expected that when the FOMC wraps up its meeting this week it will leave interest rates unchanged — a break from a run of interest-rate cuts at three straight Fed meetings this year …..That doesn’t mean the Fed won’t make a significant announcement at the meeting’s conclusion….Sometimes there’s more to a Fed meeting than meets the eye……With this being the last FOMC meeting of the year, it may go a long way toward setting the tone for 2020….That includes providing insights into both the Fed’s expectations for the economy next year and its monetary policy plans in response.”

Our view is that the FED will deliver what the equity markets would like to hear short of a rate cut. No doubt it will remain data dependent but may throw in a few words that it may preempt any deterioration in the economy should the data give any sign of such an event occurring.

In addition, with OPEC and Russia agreeing to cut crude production by an extra 500,000 barrels a day for the first quarter of 2020, ironically may actually help equity markets, especially if they stick to it, but that hasn’t always been the case.

So there are only a few hours to go and meanwhile, if you have some spare time on your hands, we have provided in the description box below details of some of our more recent videos, especially my rant yesterday against pumpers advocating imminent $100 silver and $10,000 gold.

It’s a bit of fun but with a serious underlying message of caution.

Naturally we shall provide an update and analysis of the FED’s decision which will either be published this evening or perhaps tomorrow morning so that we can gauge international market reaction to the news first – we shall have to wait and see how contentious the decision and comments turn out to be.

We also must not forget to include into our equation two other important dates which lie shortly ahead of us. December 12th UK General election with the results probably known on Friday morning – which will give us a guide as to whether BREXIT is still a distinct possibility or not and Sunday 15th when the increased US tariffs on Chinese goods is about to take effect. It is preferred by traders that at best a trade deal good be decided by then, or second best the increased tariffs stalled until a deal is announced, or worst case the tariff increases and extensions go ahead. We will probably know more about this before the week is concluded.

These too are important events apart from the FED interest rate announcement that will affect equity markets, the dollar value and gold and silver prices to varying degrees.

Finally, this morning, gold is currently standing at $1466 and silver at $16.68 and no doubt there will be a reaction in either direction depending on what is announced later today.

Thank you so much for listening, please share your thoughts and if you haven’t already done so, please subscribe to our channel and press the bell sign, so that you are notified of videos as and when they are published.
