    Description

(25 Feb 2020) With a mix of humour and irony, thousands of members of Sao Clemente Samba School took part in the second and final day of Rio de Janeiro's carnival parade on Monday night, with some strong criticism of far-right Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
A float with a giant Pinocchio representing fake news and another with banners reading "The gravy train is over" and "The earth is flat" paraded into the Marques de Sapucai Sambodrome.
The carnival parade is used not just to celebrate but to bring attention and to protest against problems faced by the Brazilian people.
Other schools focussed on other topics, including racism, religious intolerance and violence.
Monday night was the second and final day of the competition where members of 13 top Rio samba schools performed in a bid to become the champion of the world's most famous carnival.
The results will be announced later in the week.
Each of the samba schools parades for about an hour and is judged in 10 categories, from the quality of the drum sections to the beauty of the costumes and floats.
