Flying To Catalina Island In a Private Plane
Description
Here is my next leg from our California Trip as we fly from San Diego International to Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles. The 50 mile open water over flight was pretty cool and the 3000 foot runway perched on top of the island surrounded in cliffs made for a fun challenge of an approach. We elected to file IFR to easily get out of the San Diego airspace and then cancelled once we were closer to Catalina. All video capturing done by the non flying pilot and this flight was made under Part 91 flight rules. Have you flown out over water in a single engine plane?
