“Free Guy” is the newest entry into a world of popularized video-game film adaptations, including “Wreck-It Ralph”, ”Ready Player One”, and “Pixels”. But unlike other video-game movies, the star of “Free Guy” isn’t even a main character, but he must become one to save his world from the destruction of online-gamers everywhere.

While “Free Guy” takes a new concept and runs with it, we can’t help but feel like it’s an obvious continuation of other nostalgic video-game films, but with more mature subject matter.
