Anthony Angello, the leading goalscorer for the WBS Penguins of the AHL, received his first call-up to the NHL club on January 30. The Albany, NY native would have plenty of family and friends in attendance to see his debut with the Penguins against their cross-state rival.
Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin both recorded 1G-2A to help lead the way for the black and gold. This was Malkin’s sixth game with 3+ points. Crosby has 11 points in his last six games. Historically speaking, Crosby has 105 points against the Flyers. The only other players with 100+ points against Philadelphia are Mario Lemieux (124), Jaromir Jagr (120), Bryan Trottier (117), and Wayne Gretzky (100). Kris Letang passed Paul Coffey for the most career power-play goals by a defenseman in Penguins history (41) with his 2nd period tally.
