German cruise ship refuses to leave WA port
Description
A German cruise ship has refused to leave Fremantle port, requesting Australian Border Force allow it to remain at the Western Australia port until mid-April.
WA Premier Mark McGowan told reporters on Wednesday that he wanted it gone from his state’s waters “as soon as possible” and has requested the Commonwealth to intervene.
The state government has repeatedly demanded the ship’s immediate departure.
Since the Artania’s arrival on March 25, 41 passengers and crew have been transferred to Perth hospitals, while 800 passengers were flown to Frankfurt earlier this week.
