Government announcements 'incredibly disappointing'
Description
CEO of the Australian Hotels Associations Stephen Ferguson says he is “incredibly disappointed” with the government’s announcement as “there was no mention of any compensation to hotels or other hospitality operators”.
“It will have the effect of driving many mum and dad operators straight over a debt cliff,” Mr Ferguson told Sky News.
“They’re likely to be closed until maybe July or August and cafés and restaurants will be limited to 10 people.
“There are a whole range of retailers out there that are allowed to have people walking around and we just don’t know why the hospitality industry should be treated any differently.”
